Garden Progress - SO CLOSE!

At dinner last night, we had a fresh garden salad - straight from John and Jane's garden!  Nothing beats that fresh homegrown lettuce and I could not be more excited about the progress in our garden.  With all of last week's traveling, it's been awhile since y'all have seen the garden ...

Lots and lots of green!

The green beans (and the peas, which I didn't get a picture of) are starting to climb.

Guess what?

The potatoes are starting to bloom!  Bruce says that as soon as the flowers bloom the potatoes are ready to be dug.

We're learning a lot about lettuce - I think next year we'll plant more.  The seeds didn't yield as much as I would have liked.

But it's still early - so we'll see!

Do you see what I see?

Radishes!

The carrots won't be ready for awhile, but they look healthy!

Tomatoes!

I continue to be amazed at the progress in the garden - it has been so much fun to watch grow!  I am looking forward to cooking and eating out of it this summer.

Check out this article from NPR on Michelle Obama's latest visitors to the garden at the White House - I love that the state dinners at the White House eat out of the First Lady's garden!  How cool ...
