Dad's Mac 'n Cheese Casserole + Accent Vlog

Evening everyone!

Before I get into dinner, my third article went live on Suite101 today! I decided I wanted to research Seasonal Affective Disorder, something that I haven't had to deal with over the past several years. After moving back to Connecticut, I realized very quickly how difficult long winter months can be - I hope this article can offer some help and guidance! Check it out here.

Now ... dinner!  Things have been a little bit crazy over here tonight, so I pulled out one of my dad's classic recipes to make a quick and easy dinner.

Mmm.  It's simple.  Here's how you make it.

Dad's Mac 'n Cheese Casserole

1 box Macaroni & Cheese, prepared according to instructions
1 pound Ground Beef
Sea Salt & Pepper
Chili Powder & Tabasco
Diced Onion & Garlic

Prepare the macaroni and cheese according the instructions on the box.  Add a little bit more milk than instructed (1/3 cup instead of 1/4 cup in this case).

Brown your beef, adding generous amounts of all of these spices.  Flavor is key with this dish, so don't be afraid to pour it on!

When the macaroni is ready ...

... add the meat.  Stir and serve!

Maybe not the healthiest of dinners, but you could add some veggies or serve on a salad for some nutritional benefits. :)

And now ... I've been watching the "Accent Vlog" float around the blogging world for the past couple of days and I decided to play along today!  I grabbed my poor sweet husband into the shot and he played too!  I think the video is actually more fun with both of us, but you can be the judge of that.  Enjoy!  (I'll post the words/questions below the video if you want to play along!)

  1. Great Vlog.
I say Soda, or occasionally pop. Never coke. I never call shoes "sneakers." EVER. And the thing I change the tv with is a "CLICKER." haha. It's funny how different states say different things.

  2. I call it a daddy longlegger also. Maybe it's because Bruce and I grew up amongst the same PA dutch folk. Maybe it's because we're both super-cool.

  9. Yours is by far my favorite of these video posts -- you and Bruce are just too cute together. I love the addendum at the end with the Hungarian and PA Dutch phrases. So fun!

    THOUGHTS:

    1) i am SO glad y'all said New Orleans right!! :)
    2) i say y'all. i'm glad you picked that up!
    3) i say buggy. idk why! i have also heard cart. but another vlogger said 'carriage' which i thought was weird.
    4) there is a facial epression you make a lot that i make too! maybe you will notice it when i do my vlog?!
    5) i'm just going to throw this out there. i kept thinking you reminded me of someone & i realized it is kate hudson. Not that you look just like her but y'all have a lot of the same expression. A GOOD THING b/c i love kate hudson!

    FUN!

  12. You're so freakin' cute. and I can't believe how long it's been since I actually last saw you in person. You're still Sarah K, for sure! :)

Also, I am shocked that you do not include the final S in "Daddy Long LegS"!

PPS -- Your little Southern accent that creeps in from time to time is very sweet.
