It's a Good Thing I'm Not a Perfectionist

Let me start off this post by saying that I got off the elevator at work this morning, thought something seemed off, put my hand to my face and realized I had forgot to put earrings on.

I know.

Even when I got called to a death in the middle of the night at the hospital I didn't show up without earrings on.

I should have just turned around and called it a day.  I did not.

But it was just one of those days.

It was one of those days where the humidity brought my hair back to the 80's poof.

It was one of those days where the printer at work acted with such defiance that I almost named it after one of my ex's and started screaming at it.

It was one of those days where I tried my hand at making jewelry and ended up with earrings that made me look like dumbo.

(Me: What do you think? Bruce: Um, they're awfully big.)

It was one of those days where I went for a run and was distracted because my sensor wasn't working and my music kept turning off and on.  Subsequently it became one of those days where I tried to load my run data from today and the computer is telling me I ran all of 4 seconds.

It was one of those days where the humidity was 159% and I was wheezing when I got to the end of my run.

It was just one of those days.

It's a good thing I'm not a perfectionist - otherwise having "one of those days" would have really bothered me.

Now, if I WAS a perfectionist, I would dig around in iPhoto to find a photo of a precious pink flower that I took at the botanical garden last month.  If I WAS a perfectionist, I would probably post it on my blog in an attempt to remind myself that there are certain things that I am very good at and make up for the fact that I had one of those days.

Boy, it's a good thing I'm not a perfectionist.

p.s. Have you watched Tim's video yet?

  1. Great posting -preaching at the choir!- but I would have loved to seen a couple of pictures of your 80's poof hair and the Dumbo earrings... BTW, I am begining to think there are more perfectionists or almost perfectionists in the ministry more than any other profession...
