Tickled Pink

Vino on Valentine's?

That's amore!

Bruce and I are absolutely tickled pink today.

Well, maybe I'm tickled pink.  Bruce is tickled in a much more manly shade of hunter green.

First of all - Bruce is part of the Outdoor Blogger Network, which is a network of bloggers organized into different categories of outdoor blogging.  They run giveaways every week and this week Bruce REALLY wanted to win the pair of waders that they were giving away.

Really.

To the point where he obsessively refreshed his internet page to see if they had posted the winners.

I was taking a shower this afternoon when I heard Bruce pounding on the door.  "I WON THE WADERS!!!!!" was all I heard.

Obviously, we're both excited about this win.  Because with the new waders being gifted to Bruce, there is more money in the budget for shoes.

And Bruce shares my enthusiasm for the EXACT SAME REASON.

Just as the excitement about the waders was wearing off, I opened my email and found out that I had been accepted into the Foodbuzz Featured Publisher Program!  After my New Year's resolution to continue to grow my blog and explore freelance opportunities, I decided to fill out the Foodbuzz application and see what happened.  I love the food blogging genre and love the fact that - once I get into a church full time and won't be able to blog about everything going on - I will still be able to check in here with mouth-watering recipes and eye-candy photographs.

Speaking of which ...

Bruce and I were inspired by Giada's segment on the Today Show this morning (watch it here).  She made spaghetti topped with sliced steak and it looked incredible!

We didn't have steak in the freezer, but we did have pork tenderloin, so we made due with that.

We served it over capellini, which is a little bit thinner than spaghetti, but thicker than angel hair.

And Bruce made the sauce!  He used a can of crushed tomatoes and seasoned it with basil, oregano, Italian seasonings, garlic and minced onion.

I poured the wine and made the garlic bread!

And took the photos.  I'd like to think that that is one of the most important parts of the meal.
