My Birthday Wish List

Well hello there!  How was everyone's day?  I had a meeting in The-Middle-Of-Nowhere, Connecticut which kept me busy for most of the day.  It felt good to get out.  Other than our walk in the snow and driveway shoveling, I haven't left the house since we got back from Pennsylvania!

Bruce texted me on my way home from the meeting and said he was in the mood for pizza for dinner.  I couldn't handle the thought of another vegetable-less meal, so I grabbed a pizza and some salad fixins to curb both of our cravings.

I used this salad recipe, sans chicken and rice so it was more like a side salad than a main dish.  It was still the big part of my meal, though.

Our local grocery store didn't have the dressing I normally use (or tomatoes or cucumbers!), so I called my mom (who was out of town visiting church members) to see if she could stop at a larger grocery store on her way home to get some.  They didn't have it either!  She grabbed me this, which was more expensive (sorry Mom!), but delicious!  And so fancy - I love the bottle.

Mmm, fresh vegetables.  I am seriously missing the farmer's market right now.  We never were without some sort of raw vegetable at our apartment in Atlanta.  Atlanta folks - take advantage of the Dekalb International Farmer's Market.  It's one of a kind.

So I don't know about you guys, but I feel like I am still recovering from the holidays.  I am craving any kind of a routine right now.  The funny thing is - my birthday is less than a month away!  It always kind of sneaks up on me.  While I was waiting for the pizza to cook this evening I put together a fun little birthday wish list of tools and gadgets that I have my eye on for my kitchen.

1. Giada De Laurentiis for Target 10-pc. Professional Series Tri-Ply Clad Cookware Set - If I cook with her pots and pans will my smile be as big and white as hers?
2. Cuisinart CDL-10S Pro Classic 7-Cup Food Processor - I really want to make my own hummus!  I'm sure I can find something else to do with a food processor, but at the moment it's just hummus.
3. Pyrex Prepware 3-pc. Mixing Bowl Set - We currently have plastic mixing bowls, which aren't that durable.  They are also dark red, which makes photographing difficult (what's a food blogger to do?).
4. LOJA 20-piece Cutlery Set - I like funky looking flatware.  Right now we have a pretty standard, boring set.  I love the unique-ness of the spoons in this set.
5. Primo Digital Scale - Warm Red - I've read multiple times that weighing food is the best form of measurement.  I don't need anything fancy, but I did pick the red scale so it would match my mixer. :)
6. Le Creuset 4.25" Stoneware Petite Tart Dish in Cherry - I think it's the weather, but lately I have had a fascination with meat pies.  I really want to host a dinner party and serve individual meat pies!  These are from CSN (I would need at least four) - maybe they will ask me to do another product review?  Hey, a girl can dream!
7. Drommar Cookie Sheet - This is a simple cookie sheet from IKEA.  I have one, but it would be nice to have another one.  I would be a much more efficient baker!
8. Rachael Ray 3-pc. Spoonula Set - Green - I love spoonulas.  They are the perfect kitchen tool.  I only have one.  I wish Rachael would put a set out in red, but I think the green would be a fun accent color.
9. Polder 6631-75 Stainless Steel Sink Strainer with Extending Rubber-Grip Arms - Like our mixing bowls, we've been making due with a small, inexpensive plastic strainer.  If I am cooking for a lot of people my pasta tends to go flying because the strainer isn't big enough.  It would be nice to have an upgrade.
10. Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill - Yes, I have a coffee grinder.  Yes, it works just fine.  But this one is so cool!  It's like ... a suped-up coffee grinder (insert my best "Tim Taylor ho-ho-ho-ho-ho" here).

Well there you have it - my 2011 Birthday Wish List!  I'm generally really bad about telling people what I want for different holidays (my poor mom asked me what I wanted for Christmas and got a 15 minute lecture on the problem with consumerism), but it was fun to do some window shopping tonight!

What is on your wish list right now?  I have a whole separate photography and blogging wish list - but I'll save that for another day. :)

Night!

  1. I was going to avoid talking about more stuff tonight (because I feel like all I've been talking about is stuff... and I don't really care that much about stuff... just what it lets me do!), but since you've offered, I think I will make my own wish list, Amazon style. In about 15 minutes, when it's done, please come check it out :) karisears.blogspot.com, since I dont know if that shows up anywhere on these comments...
