And Now For Something Completely Different ...

Bruce realized a few days ago that in the four years that we've been together (and over the past six months or so of food blogging) we've never had French Toast for breakfast!

We changed that this morning.

I made mine with a whole wheat, grainy bread.  I sprinkled some cinnamon and powdered sugar on one side of the dredged bread so those flavors could be cooked into the toast.  After I took them off the skillet I topped with some more powdered sugar and real maple syrup.

It was delicious!  And fun to do something a little bit different.

Speaking of different - I've been doing a couple of little projects around here that I thought would be fun to share.  When we moved, our poor IKEA dressers literally fell apart on their way out the door!  Lucky for us, Bruce's mom gifted us with a solid wood dresser that just needed to be refinished.  Check it out!

Neat, right?  I used a chocolate-brown paint and cheap-cheap ($1) knobs from Home Depot.

And the mirror I snagged at Goodwill?

Thanks to some spray paint, it is now a crisp clean white (almost brand new looking!) mirror.  I love the transformation!

I love finding ways to do things cheaply (when I successfully create a meal that is $1 a plate, I've been known to jump up and down), so these projects have really been fun.  I'm not a crafty person, but I'm trying to take things slow and learn.

Anybody else trying something new these days?  Craftiness?  French Toast?

  1. I'm enjoying the cheap transformations!
I've gotten back to writing down everything I spend recently so I can see where the money's going...and I'm really liking it.
