Saturday Morning Baking

What a difference a day (and a good night's sleep) makes!  I woke up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day this morning.

Of course, it helps that the day had some fun stuff to tackle. :)

Last night's snow only left a dusting, so I was able to get out of the driveway without a problem and up to my parent's house.  My mom and sister and I are getting ready for the hospitality portion of my Ecclesiastical Council (ie the food part).  So far on the menu we have sugar cookies, cupcakes and gingerbread!  I think members of the Board of Deacons are bringing brownies and more cookies!  I still need something savory, but people will be well-fed - that's for sure!

Big Red III came with me and was happily humming.

I held off on coffee and breakfast until I got here.  Why eat my own food when I can eat my parents'?  (Love you Mom and Dad!)

I am ridiculously excited about the fact that I am living close to my parents and can take advantage of their Costco membership.  These croissants are to die for delicious.  I toasted mine and put some butter on it.  Yummmmmmm.

Has anybody ever tried to make their own croissants?  That could be a fun project ...

Here's a sneak peak at the baking extravaganza!

Cupcakes ready to be iced!  I'm going to try the cream cheese frosting recipe that Ver posted awhile back.  I sent her a facebook plea for help this morning and she gave me some good tips - hopefully they come out as nicely (and yummy) as hers!

Gingerbread ready to go into the oven.  This smells like Christmas.

Sugar Cookies!

That's it for now - I'm off to make frosting.  Wish me luck!

  1. Ohhh baking extraveganzas are the best!! They all look yummy..I'm sure they will be gobbled up and outshine the rest of the sweets. :)

And you're right..homemade croissants would be a really cool challenge. Never thought of that before!
