Embarassing Encounters

Happy Thursday everyone!  Sorry I didn't check in this morning, I was too busy being mortified that my maintenance man knocked on our door to change an air filter while I was still in bed (it was 9 am, so a normal time for him to show up, I was just giving myself some extra time in bed out of sheer exhaustion).  When I realized he was knocking on our door and not our neighbors', I flew out of bed, threw on a pair of jeans that luckily were right next to my bed and ran to the door as he was unlocking it.  "GOOD MORNING!" I sang, trying to play it off like I hadn't been in a sleepy daze five seconds before.  "Sorry for the boxes, we're moving, come on in!!!!!"  Never mind the fact that I was wearing jeans and the tank top that I slept in.

So he tripped over five boxes on his way into the kitchen to change the filter while I walked into the bathroom and realized that the ENTIRE RIGHT SIDE OF MY FACE HAD SLEEP LINES ON IT.

That's attractive.

30 minutes later, I walked out of my apartment and said hi to the entire maintenance crew (their work space is near our building).  I got into Bruce's truck to drive to work (he has my car at work to do some routine maintenance before we make the trip to CT) and I couldn't get the seat moved forward!  It's a bench seat and I spent at least five minutes rocking back and forth like an idiot trying to get the dumb thing moved up.  Finally I had to get out of the car and all but stick my head under the seat to figure out how to get it to move.

I'm so slick.

All I have to say is I am so glad I remembered how to drive a stick shift and didn't stall on my way out of the parking spot.  That would have been icing on the cake.

Breakfast was more like brunch and was consumed at my desk while working.  PB&J on a WW bagel.

Did you know that every woman needs 400 mcg of Folic Acid every day?  The things you learn when you work at a school of public health.

Our admin manager came down and said there was fruit leftover from her morning meeting!

Yummmmm.

Okay, I have a million and one things to do at work today, so I'm off.  Just for fun (and to make me feel better), please share with me your most embarassing encounters with maintenance guys that have come either to your apartment or to your house.  I can't be the only one, right?

Right?

Anyone?

  1. I would share my most embarrasing encounter with maintenance but I am not sure what your blog is rated....

Note: We live on a Marine Corp Base for 5 years where there are no rules such as knocking before entering and the such....

  2. In college, the maintenance guy in our all-girls dormitory was very thin and had long, luscious brown hair. Unfortunately, so did my roomate! He had come in while I was at class one day to fix something in the bathroom. He was turned away from me with the door half-closed. I saw the long brown hair, said "Hi Hannah!" really loudly and started chatting to him. Embarrasing.
I'm so happy for you and Bruce as you take this big step. I know you both will do so awesome in all of your endeavors! Traveling Mercies! Atlanta will miss you!
