So I try not to complain on here, I really do. Every now and then I carry on about the humidity and the fact that I wasn't designed for southern summers, but for the most part I try to stay upbeat and positive about life and everything about it.
That being said - we have a bug problem in our apartment. Specifically, a roach problem. Now, if you don't live in the south, you will probably gag at the word "roach" - I did 3+ years ago before I loaded up my car and headed to Georgia. Now I know it's a part of life. In the same way I had to obsessively check for ticks and swat away gnats when I lived in Connecticut, now I've gotten used to roaches.
Or, I've at least gotten to a point where I don't scream and run when I see one.
However, we're not talking about one. We're talking about ... more than one. My apartment maintenance people have come and sprayed before, and the problem got a little bit better, but then it got worse over the summer. Much, much worse. We tried to spray ourselves, but I think we only did more harm to ourselves than we did to the roaches.
Oh - have I mentioned that the problem is in my kitchen?! Yeah ... gross.
So Bruce and I finally had enough and called our leasing office to have them come spray again. Only this time I want them to spray everything. And I mean EVERYTHING. So this morning I woke up and took everything off of my counters and out of my cabinets and drawers. I left them a note that said, "Please spray everything" and headed to work.
Now here I am at work, trying to forget about the fact that my living room currently looks like this:
Like I've said before, it's a good thing I'm not a perfectionist.
Have a great day y'all.
p.s. Yes that is my suitcase by the door. No, I'm still not completely unpacked.

My apartment MADE me do this QUARTERLY in EVERY ROOM and CLOSET of the apartment which took hours! (or pay a 100$ fine.) At least you just had to request it. Oh and don't get me started on the "Is what you're spraying safe for a small exotic pet?" Ugh. Good luck with the roach.
ReplyDeleteUgggh!! Cockroaches!! I have a problem with them, too. I'm getting quite good at killing them. I think my most recent one was with a frying pan..but my most epic kill involved a dropping a toolbox on it 7 times, spraying it with 409, and flushing it down the toilet when it *still* wasn't dead. Gross gross gross!!!
ReplyDeleteEW!!!! The thought of "roach" makes me gag!!!! & i am born & raised in the south! They are just awful!
ReplyDeleteSorry... good luck!
I actually saw I roach running across our kitchen floor yesterday! I definitely screamed when I saw it. My boyfriend had already bought roach traps/poison, but we had never put any out. It definitely got put out after that!
