Monthly Goals

Happy August!  Is it just me or did the month of July drag on and on and on?  I felt like after my mid-unit evaluation, time just slowed to a crashing halt.  I thought I'd never make it to August!  I was fighting insomnia last night and realized that midnight had FINALLY arrived, so I tweeted the following ...

August needs to be a month of productivity for me - my ordination interview is next month!

Speaking of productivity ... Last month I decided to assign myself "monthly goals".  There are several habits that I really want to get into and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to implement them into my everyday life.  I thought that maybe if I started with one goal a month, eventually those goals would become habits.

Last month my goal was to clean out Lilly's litter box every single day.  I'm really good about changing out the litter once a week, but I wanted to get in the habit of scooping it every day.  I started this goal about 1/3 of the way into the month and I found that it actually made my life much easier.  When I went to change out the litter it took less time.  The best part was that after a little over a week, it actually did become second nature.  I have high hopes for this month (and beyond)!

This month my goal is to keep up with cleaning our bedroom and dealing with our laundry.  I am really good about washing and drying the laundry - it's the folding and putting away / hanging up that I always seem to let slide.  My bedroom floor is constantly piled high with clean laundry while my dresser drawers and closet racks sit empty.

I'm trying to start off the month strong, so I spent some time after church running some more loads, folding what was already done and putting away.  Hopefully I will have the same zest for this goal in a few weeks (and remember to keep up with July's)!  Wish me luck!

  1. I think my monthly goal should be to actually develop a routine again. I'm about to go nuts. Oh, and get rid of the mouse. Oh and HAVE A YARD SALE!! Are you coming? Love you! Love this! You inspire me!

  2. My monthly goal should be to continue unpacking boxes...like the boxes that are in my bedroom. There are like 5 of them left...and I just do not have the desire to unpack them. Then the only boxes that would be left are all the ones with our books in them...totaling like 20 boxes. But I need bookshelves for them first so they will stay packed up for a little while longer. At least I don't have to worry about organizing the garage...that's Andrew's domain - and he can have it! Miss you!

  3. I would like to join you on your monthly goal of laundry. I am exactly the same way. Who knows why it is so hard to actually fold and put away!?!
