There's No Place Like Home

Click your heels three times together and think to yourself, "There's no place like home, there's no place like home ..."

I thought I would throw a question out there into bloggerland for people to ponder.  My parents are gearing up to paint their house this summer.  It's a cute little Cape that they bought a year after I moved to Atlanta.  As sad as it was for me to pack up my childhood room (and as sad as it is now to not know where anything is when I visit my parents and to sleep in the guest room) I love the house that parents bought and it is in the perfect location.

It is definitely in need of some work, but it's been a fun project for all of us (even those of us 1,000 miles away!).  I was talking to my mom this morning and she said they are getting ready to paint it this summer but are still deciding on colors.  I have some ideas, but thought I'd see what other people think ...

Isn't their house cute?  It's smaller than what I grew up in, but the layout is SO much better.

I was thinking a nice off-white or cream with black or brown shutters - what do you all think?  You don't have to agree with me.  They want to stick to a traditional Cape look.  Something that says, "There's no place like home" with a bit of a crisp, modern flair.

  1. It looks cozy and welcoming as it is. I really like the way it looks in the photo, though shutters would be a fine addition. Khaki or a little "smokier" would keep the "warm look" it has now. Cream would be a more modern and "fresh-scrubbed" look. Whatever your parents decide, I hope you'll post the "after" picture!
