The Curtain Never Goes Down

We have a tradition at the all school musical - the curtain never goes down on closing night.  You put your heart and soul into a show and it's comforting to know that it's never really over.  You take a piece of it with you ... always.

Our new family tradition is to take a family photo on a piece of the scenery.  We piled onto the plane this year!

Behind The Scenes - Spit Take Edition

One of the best parts about growing up with a dad who directs a show every year is that I get to see all of the behind the scenes stuff that goes on. It truly take a village to put on a show and I thought that I would give you a glimpse into some of the funnier things that go on.

For example. This show has two "spit takes" - meaning water gets spit. During one of them the stream of water hits another actor. During the other one, however, it goes straight into the pit. Apparently the first night it soaked the guitar player, his music and the timpani. So they came up with a solution ...

The guitar player wears an umbrella hat during that scene.

I'm snacking on pizza and working on my sermon.

The curtain goes up in an hour!

Exhausted.

I realize it's 2 a.m. and most normal people don't blog at this hour, but I'm trying to unwind after a busy day and this is the best way I know how.

After tonight's show we had an "adult cast party" at our lovely choreographer's house.  Every year she hosts this party and every year there is wayyyyy too much food.  This year she had it catered by PRIMOS!

All of this + an assortment of drinks.  I drank a Corona and pretended I was on a beach in Mexico.

Another successful show!  Two more shows tomorrow and then it's back to reality (musicals do not equal reality). We move a week from today!

Photo Night!

This is totally unrelated, but I realized this morning that I never really posted an "after" photo of my haircut on here (except for a quick snapshot outside of the salon and I look totally exhausted!)  So here you go ...

I love it!

Okay, so onto my night.  I took almost 700 photos on two different cameras tonight! I put my 18-55mm lens on my parent's dSLR and my 75-300mm lens on my dSLR and alternated between the two throughout the night.  I'm tired!

Unfortunately, we loaded all of the photos onto my dad's computer before I left the school, so I only had my SD card when I got home.  All of the big group shots are on the other card.  But here are some of the shots from my camera!  Goodnight!
