I have a confession to make ...
I don't really like Valentine's Day.
Thanks for letting me share. I feel better.
Actually, I'm not done. It's not that I don't like the holiday itself, I just don't like the way that it emphasizes couples. Yes, I am married now to the sweetest, most patient and kindhearted man now. But with the exception of some casual dating and a lot of late night flirting over black coffee and homework, I stayed single throughout my college years. A holiday about couples? Blech.
I'm all about the abundant love part of Valentine's Day. The celebration of family and friends. And food. And fun.
Now this is my kind of Valentine's Day celebration.
I made a batch of oatmeal this morning with oatmeal, water and chopped walnuts (not as many as usual, just enough for some crunch).
Then I took a cookie scoop and added one scoop of strawberry jam and one scoop of peanut butter. And then I garnished the entire bowl with chocolate chips.
Grab a spoon!
Um, yum.
The richness of the bowl (which was so big I actually couldn't finish it!) required tons of black coffee.
Now that's love.
You know what is also love? My affection for you guys. I love every single person that comes into my portal of the world wide web and reads my ramblings day in and day out. Happy Valentine's Day everyone! xoxo

1. Your breakfast looks delicious.
ReplyDelete2. I'm with you on the Valentine's thing. Why must advertisements mess with the purity (is that the word I'm looking for?) of so many holidays?
