Snow Shoeing Adventure

What a fun day!

Thank you for all of the prayers and kind thoughts as I wrote and preached my sermon this weekend and morning.  Everything went really well - it was a great congregation that welcomed Bruce and me with open arms.  I was pleased with how everything went.

After church Bruce and I stopped at Housatonic River Outfitters so we could rent a pair of snow shoes for my sister and then went straight to my parents' house.

After a quick lunch of leftover pizza and salad and we packed up the car and hit the road!  We decided to go to Macedonia Brook State Park because we had heard from a friend that there is a road that doesn't get cleared in the winter and is largely traveled by snow shoe-ers (and not cross-country skiers - we didn't want to get in their way).

I was wearing just the right amount of layers!

Honestly, before yesterday I didn't understand how snow shoes worked.  They are really simple, though - you just wear your own boots and strap into the snow shoes.  They don't have to be any particular size.

The weather was perfect and the terrain was so peaceful!

Me & My Sista!

Hubster.  Love him.

I uploaded another flickr stream so you could look through all of my photos from today.  Here it is!

My dad cooked the returning Smiling Snow Shoe-ers a huge feast of fried chicken, baked potatoes and steamed broccoli for dinner!

I decided to create a loaded baked potato with the broccoli - definitely the right choice!

After I snapped my pics and started eating I realized my dad was putting ranch dressing on his potatoes - and I couldn't help myself.  I added some of that, too. :) It was delicious.

I am so exhausted so I am going to wrap this up and turn my attention to the Golden Globes.  Anyone else watching?

  1. That foods looks sooo good! And i have never been able to do anything fun in snow...when it snows here there is BARELY enough for a snowman! That looks like tons of fun!

  2. Lindsay, it was! And it only cost $20 for my sister to rent them for the entire day. Very affordable.

Melissa, you should find a reason to come up here in the winter! You could make a stop in NYC and take in a show!

  3. That looks like so much fun!! :)

  4. I'm so glad to read that your sermon/visit with the new congregation went well. Looks like you celebrated in style!

  5. How fun! And you look so fashionable! I wish I had a cute winter coat like that!

  6. So beautiful where you live, it looks like it's out of of postcard! And that coat is adorable - where did you get it??
