A Party Fit For A Grandma

I just got a text from my dad that said I haven't updated my blog in almost two days so I thought I'd hop on and say that I'm still alive!  I just joined Bruce in Myerstown for a visit to his family and wifi isn't as easy to get ahold of around here.  And sometimes it's just nice to visit. :)

I hitched a ride with my parents to PA yesterday for my Grandma's 90th birthday party!

She is an amazing piano player, so her cake couldn't have been more perfect.

Our day started with a trip to Dunkin Donuts on our way to the highway.  The snow from Friday night had pretty much been cleared, but as we drove through New Jersey it started snowing again!  So it was a slow trip.

My aunts and my dad rented out a room at the retirement community that my grandparents live in for the party.  There was so much food!  Lots of finger foods - fruits, veggies, cheeses, bologna and dipping sauces.  On the drink menu:  Juice, mimosas, coffee and tea.

They served the cake with ice cream from Penn State Creamery, my Grandma's favorite ice cream place.  Did you know that my grandmother graduated from Penn State?  She graduated in the 1940s (I want to say 1943?).  It's normal for women now, but not then!

I love these pictures of my grandparents, my dad and aunts.  It was the first time in awhile all of their kids were together and there were at least 10 cameras snapping.  At the end everyone just started laughing.  Really a cool moment to capture.

After the party, I joined Bruce and we drove back out to Myerstown to spend some time with his family.

And my sister-in-law's new puppy, Charlie.  Isn't he cute?

I will be back to regularly schedule food-blogging tomorrow night.  And it's about to get more fun, too!  Bruce and I were out visiting some of his family today and two of his aunts sent me out with some of their favorite recipes!  There is one for Baked Oatmeal that I can't wait to try ... :)

I hope everyone had a good weekend.  xoxo
