Thanksgiving Dinner

(Did you hear the news?  I'm a half marathoner!)

We had planned on crashing the Lloyds' Thanksgiving dinner this afternoon, but I wasn't really feeling up to much more than laying in bed and checking facebook and twitter on my iPod.  Nothing horrific, just normal recovery stuff.  I was a little dehydrated, so I had a headache, my appetite was trying to work itself out (does that happen to anyone else on long runs?) and one by one my muscles started to ache.

Bruce has been such a wonderful caretaker!  He has brought me water, ice and even went out to the grocery store to get some supplies for a makeshift Thanksgiving dinner!  My appetite only started to come back around dinnertime, so I anticipate some late night snacking!  Here is our dinner in pictures.

Fresh salad with homemade croutons.

Drizzled with ranch dressing.

Grilled turkey breasts with steamed peas and stuffing.

Mmm, stuffing.  Or as the southerners say, "Dressing".

Bruce seasoned the turkey with italian seasonings, oregano and a garlic/salt/pepper mix.  It was amazing!

Drizzled with gravy at the last minute.

Can you believe Bruce came up with this on the fly?!  He's amazing.

Thank you thank you thank you for all the wonderful comments and congratulations!  I cannot believe all of the support I have.  I am still reveling in the day - it seems so surreal!  I am currently snuggled in bed with ice on my knee watching Matt Lauer's "Most Influential People", but I will do a full recap of the race in the morning.

Good night all!  Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. have to correct you girl... In the South, even though both are usually made the same, stuffing comes out of the turkey/other fowl after it has been cooked while dressing comes from a pot or a pan... Hope your recovery is quick and easy...
