Running, Trucks and Baseball - TGIF

TGIF!  I hope you all had a wonderful Friday.  I spent 6 hours at work reconciling some data and it basically involved me sitting in a chair and staring at a computer screen while doing repetitive, but extremely meticulous work.

My eyes are still recovering.  Actually, so is my back.  And my neck.

I wasn't scheduled for a run today, but because I skipped yesterday (and because I was stuck behind a desk all day) my legs were feeling like they needed to move so I decided to head out for a quick 2 miles.

I actually wore Bruce's reflector belt and put my phone and the pepper spray in it.  The verdit?  Meh.  It's annoying to have something on my waist (and I had to stop at one point to readjust it), but I think I can get used to it for the sake of my safety.  In the end I ran 2.00 miles in 19:51, averaging a 9:55 pace.  It felt awesome!

I came home and got a text from Bruce saying that he was on his way home, but about to run out of gas. Then he sent me a text that said he made it to the gas station.  Then I was on the phone with my parents when Bruce called to tell me his truck now had gas, but wouldn't start.  So I got in my car to meet him at the gas station, drove through 15 minutes of high school football traffic (the gas station is literally one mile from our apartment) and by the time I got there Bruce was smiling and said the truck was fine.

So I came home and made macaroni and cheese out of a box.

It was all I could muster up the energy to do.

(This was the first time I tried Kraft's new 50% whole grain mac & cheese.  It was actually pretty good - I'd like it if they came out with a 100% whole grain version.  I rarely eat the stuff out of a box, but when I do it's always nice for it to be a little bit healthier!)

Served on a bed of lettuce and tomatoes so we could get some veggies.

Delicious.

I'm off to watch the Braves hopefully clinch the wild card otherwise my father will mock me play and pick up the living room.  Last night's scrabble game is still perfectly in tact.

Have a great night!

p.s. Please continue to share the names of the people you are are honoring this month for Breast Cancer Awareness Month on this post.  I really want to find a way to honor all of these women so please don't be shy!

  1. My mom who was a 24 year breast cancer survivor before dying of heart trouble in 2001. It's amazing how far they have come since she was first diagnosed in 1977; she was only given a 20% chance to live... Her name was Elizabeth Vaughn Dixon... Thanks!
