October Goals ... 6 Days Late

Good morning!  It was 45 degrees when I left the apartment this morning.  Do you know how cold 45 degrees is on a scooter when you get up to 45 mph?  Brr - I love it, but I'm currently warming my hands out over a hot cup of coffee!

Onto my monthly goals!  First of all, what do you think it says about the success of my September goals that I am 6 days late in even posting about them and looking ahead to October?

Yeah ... not good.

My goal was to spend 20 minutes a night stretching, which was supposed to help my body recover from the amount of running that I am doing and it was supposed to give me 20 minutes a day of ME time.

So how did I do?  Well ... for the first week and a half, I totally rocked it.  And I could feel the difference in my legs when I ran.  And I loved the 20 minutes focused on breathing and Taize music.  Then for a few days I started to use the opportunity to multitask.  I mean, it's completely harmless to check your e-mail and twitter while stretching, right?  Oy.

And then I traveled for three weeks in a row.  And at that point it was all over.  Don't get me wrong, I still do stretch after I get back from runs, but not nearly as much as I should and lately it's been cold and all I want to do is curl up under a blanket on the couch as soon as I get back.

Needless to say ... I'm going to revisit this goal during the month of October. :) I am also going to challenge myself to continue to clean out our apartment.  I feel like the STUFF is starting to overtake us.  I need to donate the clothes we don't wear, get rid of the things that are broken, ripped and don't work and sell the stuff that is in good condition that we just don't use anymore.  I'm excited about this goal, because it's not necessarily an every day thing, so I think I'll just set aside a day or two a week to work on it.

What are your monthly goals?  Is there a way I can hold myself accountable a little bit better?  Clearly admitting failure on my blog didn't give me enough incentive. :)

  1. It's so hard for me to set monthly goals, because most of the time I only achieve half of them. I have an easier time breaking my goals into weeks or even days :-) I'm one of those "instant gratifying" people that needs to feel like I did something by checking things off a list FAST, so I have a hard time waiting until the end of the month. So my only helpful tip would be this one: break your monthly goals into smaller time portions :-) It may help you too :-)

  2. I have the same goal kind of...to do at least 20 minutes of yoga a day. A few other goals revolve around yoga like *finally* completing (well, starting) my community teaching so I can become fully certified! Ugh..I don't know why it's been so hard for me to go out and find a place..
