World AIDS Day 2009

Half of all children living with HIV will die before their second birthday ...

... unless we act.

Today is World AIDS Day, a day dedicated to spreading awareness against the AIDS pandemic.

According to UNAIDS (the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS), AIDS has killed more than 25 million people since 1981. SO many of those were children.

I think we can do better.

“The theme of this year’s World AIDS Day is Universal Access and Human Rights. For me, that means doing everything we can to support countries to reach their universal access goals for HIV prevention, treatment, care and support - all the while protecting and promoting human rights.”
- UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibé
